Event Reporting

Most participants reported no event reports in both adult and paediatric critical care. The study cautions that event-reporting responses may be unreliable because many staff may lack direct access to incident reporting systems. The survey asked participants about events reported in the previous 12 months and their patient impact. Healthcare professionals need continuous patient safety training, particularly on adverse event recognition and reporting. Hospitals should implement non-punitive reporting policies.
