Prior randomised trials have found postoperative exercise can improve fitness and cardiopulmonary function and reduce fatigue and pain. About 60 percent of patients are reported not to meet recommended physical activity levels after surgery. Many rehabilitation programmes have access barriers related to equipment, personnel, and cost. Participation in postoperative exercise remains low among lung cancer patients. Exercise is presented as a core component of cancer rehabilitation.
