Organizations should not treat all opinions equally or defer automatically to power, seniority, or tenure. Believability weights people's input by their credibility in the specific domain under discussion. Intuition is presented as subconscious pattern recognition whose usefulness depends on whether past patterns fit the current situation. Success in one domain can cause people to overestimate their believability in other domains. Deep expertise can create cognitive entrenchment, making experts take questionable assumptions for granted.
