Fabrication

Deployment of a passive diffractive optical model occurs through fabrication rather than loading weights onto a processor. The study does not experimentally fabricate holographic or diffractive elements. The reported 91.2% accuracy is an upper bound because it uses ideal learned phase masks rather than fabricated elements. The fabrication operator maps recorded interference patterns into physical transmittance or phase responses. Fabrication deviations can introduce phase errors at each pixel.
