Frontal plane stability is built during the catch phase by maintaining a stable base. The challenge for frontal plane stability is resisting the reactive return force without losing positional integrity. Holding the weight on one side creates a lateral pull toward that side. The body must resist shifting and maintain alignment during the offset-loaded movement. The goal is to keep the torso and pelvis stable while moving through the split squat.
