Future Intervention Design

The article proposes ABC Training, the Heartphone model, and virtual reality as alternative task formats. Gamification, meaningful progress feedback, and visible links to personally relevant health outcomes are presented as mechanisms for improving task value. Early Patient and Public Involvement is described as essential for identifying feasibility barriers and improving intervention design. Future implementations should make CBM a central optional component of rehabilitation instead of a parallel research adjunct. The article recommends redesigning the core task to address boredom and perceived irrelevance. Research assistants should be introduced as clinical team members, attend team meetings, and maintain consistent visibility. The Medical Research Council framework would require qualitative research before a full trial launch to identify contextual barriers. Baseline readiness for behaviour change should be assessed before enrolment.
