GEM Score

The GEM score had not yet been validated at the time of the study. The GEM score was a binary screening tool in which one or more positive items produced a positive result. Future research should validate the GEM score. Emergency department nurses used the GEM score at presentation to determine whether geriatric co-management was indicated.
