Among completing patients, mean genomics knowledge scores increased from 7.3 to 9.4 after the intervention. All 12 knowledge items improved significantly except the item stating that all people will benefit from genomic testing. The increase in genomics knowledge was statistically significant. Higher knowledge scores indicated greater genomics knowledge. The survey measured genomics knowledge using 12 items covering genetics, heredity, disparities, genetic testing, pharmacogenomics, GINA, and biobanks. Most patients continued after the intervention to confuse disease-associated gene variants with certainty of developing disease.
