The study sample was predominantly White, highly educated, and in two-parent households, limiting the transferability of findings to single parents, lower-education caregivers, and recently immigrated families. The qualitative component used pre-intervention semi-structured interviews to capture caregiver expectations and needs before the program began, providing a baseline for comparison with post-intervention data. The GET-IT trial is a pilot RCT evaluating the feasibility of parent/caregiver group education sessions and peer psychosocial support as a complement to standard transition care. Future directions include running parallel peer-based adolescent transition groups alongside caregiver groups so that both parties benefit simultaneously from the intervention.
