GP Training

The Compulsory Service Programme is considered important for strengthening primary care in remote suburban and mountainous areas. Standardised GP residency may improve clinical competence but often fails to match CHC practice realities. Job-transfer training had limited efficiency because some trained doctors did not take GP roles. Trainees may lack primary care experience and CHC-specific competencies. China uses several pathways to expand the GP workforce, including residency, job-transfer training, CSP, and the 3+2 assistant GP pathway.
