Grass-fed beef provides all B vitamins in active forms, including B12, B6, and folate, as well as heme iron. Glutamine in grass-fed beef reduces gut and systemic inflammation. A systematic review found that evidence for red meat causing cardiovascular disease or cancer is too weak to justify individual dietary recommendations. Unprocessed red meat is unlikely to be a causal factor in adverse health outcomes according to the systematic review. Existing dietary recommendations on red meat were primarily based on observational studies with high risk of confounding. The American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, Harvard School of Public Health, and the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine all opposed publication of the systematic review.
