Existing systematic reviews and meta-analyses report pooled Ethiopian prevalence estimates from approximately 4.7% to more than 7%. Reported HBV prevalence among pregnant women in Ethiopia varies from about 2.3% in lower-prevalence areas of SNNPR to more than 11.6% in Tigray. Some regions in sub-Saharan Africa have estimated population-level HBV prevalence above 8%.
