Health Communication Interventions

Healthcare provider recommendation is the top motivator for HPV vaccination, making training providers a high-leverage intervention. Educational materials must be available in Kaqchikel, K'iche', and other Indigenous languages, adapted culturally, and delivered by trusted community messengers. Stabilising and expanding school-based HPV vaccine delivery would increase access, particularly in rural areas. Embedding HPV vaccine education into routine maternal and child health visits would reach caregivers without requiring separate outreach efforts. Digital channels such as WhatsApp could extend health communication reach in communities with mobile phone access.
