Hemoptysis

Hemoptysis indicates a deep, serious problem and should never be rationalized away without medical confirmation. Coughing up blood is never a normal symptom and always warrants urgent investigation. Potential causes of hemoptysis include pulmonary tuberculosis, lung cancer, pulmonary embolism, severe pneumonia, and bronchiectasis.
