Hepatitis C Same-Day Treatment

The study aims to determine whether same-day initiation improves treatment uptake and cure compared with simplified care. Arm 2 uses a 5-minute OraQuick antibody result as the preliminary basis for presumptive treatment. Same-day treatment starts before RNA results are available, and treatment is later continued or stopped based on RNA confirmation. The main risk of the same-day pathway is initiating treatment before RNA and full laboratory safety results are known. The protocol tests whether same-day presumptive hepatitis C treatment can simplify care for people who inject drugs in low- and middle-income countries.
