When performed correctly, the main stretch sensation occurs in the backside of the hip of the rear leg, approximately where a back pocket would sit. A stretch in the left back pocket area indicates the drill is moving in the intended direction. The stretch targets the backside of the hip on the leg positioned behind the other. The left hip is loaded while the opposite trunk side is opened through reaching and breathing. Pulling the left hip or knee backward while keeping the knees bent intensifies the hip stretch. For a left hip stretch, the left foot is elevated on a book while the right foot is placed slightly ahead.
