Adding weight and abdominal circumference was expected to increase patients' sense of control and self-management. CopA includes home measurement of body weight and abdominal circumference every 3 months. When an alert is generated, the oncological nurse is instructed to contact the patient within 48 hours. A threshold exceedance generates an alert in the electronic health record. Weight and abdominal circumference were included partly because patient representatives reported such changes at diagnosis.
