Recruitment and retention of people experiencing homelessness are feasible when study procedures are flexible, trauma-informed, and participant-centred. High engagement occurred despite complex housing, substance use, smoking, health, and social needs. People experiencing homelessness should not be excluded from clinical research based on assumptions that recruitment and retention are impractical. The three Dublin studies recruited 178 participants with experience of homelessness. People experiencing homelessness are often excluded from clinical research despite having high health needs.
