Hospital Structural Capacity

Higher-tier hospitals had greater bed, workforce, and theatre capacity than lower-tier hospitals. Only a minority of surveyed hospitals had more than 50 dedicated orthopaedic beds. Nearly half of hospitals relied on only one orthopaedic surgeon. Many surveyed hospitals had 20 or fewer dedicated orthopaedic beds. Nearly half of hospitals had only one or two functional theatres for orthopaedic surgery.
