Elevated n-6 fatty acids in human milk have been positively associated with adiposity markers in offspring. GDM and obesity have been associated with higher linoleic acid and lower docosahexaenoic acid concentrations in human milk. Linoleic acid and docosahexaenoic acid concentrations in human milk at 1 month postpartum are co-primary endpoints. LA and DHA were selected because maternal diet can modify them and they have established associations with child health outcomes.
