The findings may not generalise to other populations in Guatemala, Latin America, or globally. The study adds population-specific evidence in a setting with limited Indigenous cardiometabolic risk research. The sample included 806 individuals from 347 households. The study population consisted of adults from Tecpan and San Antonio Suchitepequez, two agrarian and predominantly Indigenous municipalities in Guatemala. The study was motivated partly by Guatemala's low average adult stature and higher stunting prevalence among Indigenous Guatemalans. Participants were randomly selected using a satellite-imaging-based sampling frame generated by Epicentre's GeoSampler tool.
