Randomised controlled trials find that IPS more than doubles employment rates compared with other vocational rehabilitation approaches. Systematic reviews indicate that IPS implementation has a strong economic case. IPS follows a place-and-train approach with rapid entry into competitive employment and ongoing support. IPS is a supported employment model intended to help people with moderate to severe mental illness obtain ordinary jobs in the open labour market.
