Mere awareness of HIV self-test kits, even without ever using one, was associated with 61% lower odds of never being tested. Internet use in the preceding 12 months was associated with 57% lower odds of never being tested, with an even stronger effect (71% reduction) for women who used it more than 12 months ago. Media exposure was associated with 43% lower odds of never being tested for HIV. Awareness of HIV self-test kits does not fully translate into kit use, with fear, stigma, and residual barriers persisting even among kit-aware women.
