Innovation Barriers and Enablers

The study will include projects that did not reach pilot stage, enabling capture of barriers across the full innovation pathway rather than only successful examples. Previous research has identified barriers to healthcare innovation, but less is known about how those barriers manifest at a deeper level and how innovation programmes can respond to them. The Define phase will analyse factors influencing the ability to engage in innovation, including communication, collaboration, creativity, competence, and workflow structures. Participants' experiences of innovation support from outside HSE Spark may influence their views of innovation and HSE Spark itself. The study aims to generate actionable insights that can help innovation programmes improve their support offerings by moving beyond conceptual descriptions of barriers.
