Lay counsellors may be viable components of collaborative care models. Collaborative care is defined by multidisciplinary coordination, regular follow-ups, shared decision-making, and integration of depression care into hypertension management. Some multidisciplinary collaborative care teams included primary care providers, nurses, psychologists, case managers, and social workers. Integrated and coordinated care was the most frequently used intervention category in the included studies.
