The stricter target range was associated with a 7% lower all-cause mortality risk per standard deviation increase in SBP-TTR. The article suggests intensive control may be more relevant for reducing cardiovascular events and improving quality of life than for prolonging survival in ASCVD. Using the stricter 110-130 mm Hg range, the inverse association between SBP-TTR and mortality remained but appeared weaker. The study did not find a stronger survival signal for SBP-TTR when the target range was lowered to 110-130 mm Hg.
