The analysis identified intersectional identities as one of four major themes in physician well-being. Female physicians commonly experienced role invalidation by being misidentified as nurses or having to validate that they were the responsible physician. Limited racial or ethnic diversity among peers reduced access to assistance, mentorship, advice, and career advancement support. Race and ethnicity affected URM physicians through patient interactions and professional relationships. Caregiving responsibilities constrained self-care and contributed to guilt among physicians.
