Interventional effects are preferred because they align more closely with plausible policy interventions and require fewer untestable assumptions than natural mediation effects. G-computation will use the gfoRmula package in R. Interventional mediation analysis estimates effects of hypothetical interventions on mediating pathways even when no such intervention was observed. The study will estimate total mediated effects and mediator-specific effects. The study uses a one-policy premise by considering hypothetical interventions one mediator at a time.
