Isochronic tones can be useful when binaural tracking is impaired because they provide additional frequency information. Combining binaural beats and isochronic tones may provide a stronger or more accessible entrainment signal than either alone. Layering an isochronic tone with a binaural target helped compensate for reduced hearing in one ear in the described example. Isochronic tones use a clear rhythmic pulse rather than requiring comparison of separate tones in each ear.
