The review is needed because no published review has qualitatively described LAIB service user experience. Qualitative studies are presented as essential for understanding sociopolitical, medical, individual, and cultural influences on LAIB experiences. The review is described as the first of its kind led by a person with living experience of opioid use and treatment. The review aims to synthesise qualitative research on service user experiences of LAIB within opioid treatment. The review aims to map existing evidence, assess policy and practice relevance, and identify research gaps.
