Leadership and Governance

Leadership and governance are interdependent rather than separate constructs in emergency care system function. Leadership and governance were defined broadly to include formal and informal influence over healthcare service delivery, culture, resources, or policy. Effective governance requires leadership attributes such as strategic vision, advocacy, coalition-building, communication, emotional intelligence, ethics, and accountability. The review examines leadership and governance as an integrated building block for emergency care system development in LMICs.
