Levothyroxine

Levothyroxine-only treatment did not optimize all measured thyroid hormone values. All trial participants start levothyroxine before discharge after surgery. Dose optimisation for levothyroxine is slow because of pharmacologic and clinical constraints. Incorrect levothyroxine dosing can cause symptoms from both underdosing and overdosing. Levothyroxine was the initial hypothyroidism treatment. Levothyroxine is widely used as hormone replacement therapy for reduced thyroid function. Levothyroxine was later used in combination with armor thyroid.
