The study was descriptive and did not test associations between the modified indices and major end-of-life outcomes such as location of death. Further research is needed to validate whether UPC-Team and BB-Team relate to end-of-life quality outcomes and patient or caregiver experiences. The study could not assess multispecialty care quality or physician variation within each team. The Ontario outpatient data did not include non-physician outpatient providers, limiting measurement of relational continuity beyond physicians.
