Liver transplantation is the only comparator with significantly better overall survival than PVEfLR, particularly in high tumour load patients. In low tumour load patients, liver transplantation had a 5-year overall survival of 72.4% versus 53.1% for PVE, but this difference was not statistically significant. Postoperative complications were slightly lower with liver transplantation than PVEfLR, but the difference was not statistically significant. Liver transplantation is promising for selected patients with high tumour volume, but donor availability is a major practical limitation.
