Local evidence is essential for NITAG recommendations that fit national epidemiological, socioeconomic, and health system contexts. LMICs, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa, face major challenges in generating and using local evidence. Deficits in local evidence can force LMIC NITAGs to rely on global or regional data that may miss country-specific realities. Weak surveillance, limited research infrastructure, funding constraints, fragmented data systems, and limited human resources constrain local evidence in LMICs. Context-specific evidence includes cost-effectiveness, values and preferences, local epidemiology, and disease burden.
