Losartan

In the OIM mouse model, losartan reduced CTX by 40% and increased bone mass sixfold compared with placebo. The human-equivalent dose translation from mouse losartan studies is uncertain because one OIM mouse dose scales above the maximum human clinical dose. Preclinical data indicate that losartan reduces circulating TGFβ, lowers bone turnover, and increases bone mass in osteogenesis imperfecta mice. Losartan is licensed for hypertension, renal failure with proteinuria, and cardiac failure.
