Lower-Leg Edema

Lower-leg edema is not presented as simply the result of too much standing or sitting. Edema is fluid accumulation in tissues that can appear as pitting in the lower leg. Venous malfunction can cause blood and fluid to pool in the lower extremities. Liver and kidney damage can contribute to edema by disrupting protein retention in circulation.
