Babesia symptoms overlap significantly with Lyme disease symptoms such as fatigue, joint pain, and headaches. Approximately 41–42% of Lyme disease patients are co-infected with Babesia. The 2015–2022 Penn State cohort study found no increased mortality from simultaneous Babesia and Lyme infection. The article presents a hypothesis that dual Babesia and Lyme infection may alter immune response to improve pathogen clearance.
