Malaria Control Interventions

Mortality estimates can improve predictions of vectorial capacity and assessment of ITNs and IRS. Adult survival determines whether mosquitoes live through Plasmodium incubation and how many infectious biting days follow. Transmission models and intervention evaluations should include realistic wild mortality rates and age-dependent mortality changes. Insecticide-treated nets and indoor residual spraying reduce adult mosquito survival.
