Maternal and Paediatric Clinical Care in Bangladesh

Bangladesh has a maternal mortality ratio of 156 per 100,000 live births and an under-five mortality rate of 31 per 1,000 live births. Major causes of death among children under five include preterm complications, intrapartum-related events, neonatal sepsis, respiratory infections, diarrhoeal diseases, and malnutrition. Major causes of maternal death include haemorrhage, hypertensive disorders, infections, and complications from pre-existing conditions. Inappropriate clinical care quality contributes to poor maternal and child outcomes.
