Maternal Common Mental Disorders

Persistent probable CMD affected about 29% of mothers, while occasional or transitory symptoms affected about 71%. Fortaleza had elevated maternal CMD prevalence during and after the distancing period compared with 2017 levels. Common mental disorders can interfere with daily activities and damage social, family, and work relationships. Maternal CMD was associated with a higher likelihood of severe food insecurity. The study examined probable maternal common mental disorder patterns among postpartum women in Fortaleza who were pregnant and gave birth during the COVID-19 pandemic.
