Studies where socioeconomic status is only adjusted for, rather than analysed as an exposure, are excluded. The review examines the association between low versus high maternal socioeconomic status and neonatal mortality in high-income OECD countries. Eligible socioeconomic measures include education, occupation, income, household income, deprivation measures, insurance status, and paternal occupation or income as a proxy.
