Mechanical Checkpoints

The model links cytoskeletal transitions to mechanical maturation during G1-phase cell spreading. As spreading progresses on stiff substrates, tension-bearing structures increase and enable subsequent transitions. The framework gives a physical basis for linking substrate stiffness, cell spreading, cytoskeletal maturation, and G1 progression. The transitions are proposed to coordinate cytoskeletal maturation with cell-cycle progression.
