Working up to 10 to 15 minutes of daily breathing and meditation practice is described as one of the most beneficial practices for health, joy, well-being, and success. Beliefs are thoughts practiced repeatedly and can therefore be consciously changed by choosing and practicing different thoughts. Focusing on problems shuts down the brain's resources for solving problems and for bodily health, while focusing on solutions enables those resources. Worry is unnecessary because actionable situations call for action, and non-actionable situations are not helped by worry either. Depression results from predominantly practicing depressing thoughts, following the same use-it-or-lose-it neurological principle as muscles. Daily news consumption should be stopped because it reinforces the belief that the world is bad. Meditation is defined not as a ritualistic practice but as feeling good, clearing the mind, and giving the body peace to perform its designed functions.
