Mentorship-infused supervision

Mentorship-infused supervision strengthens research competencies, promotes inquiry, boosts academic productivity, and facilitates institutional knowledge-sharing among emerging scholars. Mentorship-infused supervision is positioned as a strategic investment in Africa's research ecosystem. Significant gaps remain in systematic evidence about which mentorship models work best within Africa's varied sociopolitical and institutional contexts. Mentorship success or failure is influenced by the type of mentorship structure, mentor availability and expertise, institutional support, resource availability, and the broader sociocultural environment. The primary objective is to systematically evaluate mentorship-infused postgraduate research supervision models in African higher education institutions. The review aims to inform institutional policies that formalise mentorship practices, incentivise mentors, and promote cultures of continuous learning and academic leadership.
