Metabolic Switch Hormones

Switch dysfunction can be dysfunctional, delayed, or suppressed. There is no direct lab test for switch hormone function because the hormones degrade rapidly after release. GLP-1, CCK, and PYY act as short-lived switch hormones that respond to inputs such as vagus nerve stimulation, protein intake, and environmental cues. Switch dysfunction is presented as upstream of many metabolic interventions targeting blood sugar or obesity. Dietary protein directly contributes to switch hormone synthesis because these hormones are peptides.
