A 150 g intrusive force is applied via elastomeric chains and reactivated every four weeks in the test group. Occlusal plane flattening from anterior intrusion drives counterclockwise mandibular rotation, simultaneously reducing anterior face height, decreasing the ANB angle, enhancing chin prominence, and expanding the pharyngeal space. The vertical control protocol uses miniscrews inserted into the maxillary anterior labial alveolar bone to apply intrusive force to the upper incisors, flattening the steep occlusal plane. Miniscrews are inserted bilaterally into the anterior alveolar bone distal to the canines once both arches are fully aligned and levelled. Monitored adverse events for the miniscrew-based intervention include gingival erythema, swelling, hyperplasia, root resorption, and demineralisation of dental necks at miniscrew insertion sites.
