MolecuLight identified additional fluorescent areas after standard radical debridement in all ten cases. The study did not establish that fluorescence-guided debridement improves clinical outcomes or infection control. The study supports the feasibility of using MolecuLight intraoperatively because it identified fluorescent areas in every patient and yielded microbiological confirmation in most cases. MolecuLight detects endogenous fluorescence from common wound bacteria without requiring contrast agents or topical tracers. MolecuLight was assessed as an adjunct after standard radical debridement during revision knee arthroplasty for chronic periprosthetic joint infection.
