Monitoring Devices

Patch ECG devices were often preferred because they were lightweight, wireless, water resistant, discreet, and comfortable. Implantable loop recorders were the only monitoring-only devices in the review that required an invasive procedure. Holter monitors and implantable loop recorders required little patient involvement after fitting, while event recorders and wearables often required activation. Holter monitors were criticized for being large, visible, and disruptive. Event recorders and smartphone-based devices could be forgotten because they required patient activation.
