The Northeast monsoon may increase asthma visits because cooler, drier air promotes airway hyper-responsiveness. Asthma emergency department visits peaked during the Northeast monsoon even though PSI levels were lower than in other periods. Singapore alternates between a cool, dry Northeast monsoon and a warm, humid Southwest monsoon.
